How do I get teacher access?

What does the Teacher tab show me?

Why can't I add a class to my program?

Your Program Director has turned off this feature. If you need to add a class, contact your Program Director. You can still choose My own class if you teach independently.

Can I delete a class I created?

Yes, if you created the class and no students are enrolled. Program Directors and Site Admins can delete classes within the program or site they manage, even when students are enrolled.

I see "You aren't assigned to any classes yet."

You have not been linked to a class. Ask your Program Director to assign you as the class teacher or to send a teacher class code.

How do I invite students?

Which students have signed in, and which haven't?

Check the roster: Last active shows Never for students who have not practiced yet, and Active this week shows how many have practiced in the last 7 days.

A student appears twice, or is in the wrong class.

Use the Move to… menu in the roster to transfer the student to another class you teach; ask your Program Director for moves outside your classes.

What should I tell a brand-new student?

Tell them to go to the site, click Join, use their email, confirm the email, then enter the class code or open the invite link, choose their first language, and open the assigned lesson.

A student can't sign in or hear audio. What do I check?

Check their email and password, device volume, and listen button. First-language options marked text only, including Burmese, Dari, Haitian Creole, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, and Somali, have no spoken translation button.

How do I assign a lesson to my class?

In the class card open Lesson assignments, pick the book, unit and lesson, and add it. It is pinned to the top of every student's dashboard.

Can I assign more than one lesson?

Yes. Multiple assignments can be active at once; remove any you no longer need so the list stays short.

How do I see how an individual student is doing on a lesson?

The roster shows each student's last-active date and weekly practice counts; use it to spot who needs help.

Each completed exercise attempt counts, including vocabulary games, listening, speaking and writing tasks and story questions.

Many adult learners come from cultures that value the group over the individual, so the score rewards participation by the whole class.

Show the class score at the start of class, set a weekly team goal, celebrate the students who moved from Never to active, and never read out individual numbers.

How do I turn first language support off for my class?

On your class card, turn the First language support switch off. Students then see a grayed-out language menu and an English-only lesson.

Does turning it off affect every book my students use?

No. It blocks translations only for the book that class is using. Other books stay translated, and Practice keeps translations unless every class a student is in has the switch off.

When does it come back on?

The moment you turn the switch back on, or automatically once your class's session or term end date has passed. Classes with no end date stay English-only until you flip it back or the student leaves.

What do students see when it's off?

Their language menu is grayed out with a short message that you turned it off for that book. English audio, pictures, and every exercise still work.

Yes. Free sample lessons open Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 of each book's first unit with no account. Nothing is saved until they create a free account.

Yes. Use Practice or open any lesson as a student would; your own attempts do not affect class reports.

I signed up as a teacher. How do I get my first class?

On the Teacher tab, the Set up your first class card asks who the class is for. Choose Private class for your own students, or Program class if your program gave you access. Name it, add it, then share the class code or invite link shown on the class card.

My class has no students. What do I do?

Empty classes show a reminder with the class code and invite link. Give students the code or link; once they sign in and enter it, they appear on your roster right away.

I teach in a program and also tutor privately. Do I need two accounts?

No. Your Teacher tab is divided into Program classes (blue) and Private classes (green). Your program cannot see your private classes, rosters or scores.

I signed up on my own but I'm really part of a program. What now?

Keep your account. Ask your Program Director to invite your email as a teacher or send a teacher class code. Program classes then appear alongside any private classes you already made.

Can I change a class's color or icon?

Yes. Click Color & icon on any class card to pick a color and an icon so you can spot each class quickly.

How do I send an announcement to my class?

On your Teacher tab, find the Announcements box and click New announcement. Choose which class it's for, start from a template (Weekly Encouragement, New Lesson Assigned, Class Reminder) or write your own, change the subject, add an optional personal note, and choose Email + dashboard, Email only, or Dashboard only. Open the Preview tab to see exactly what students will get, then click Send now.

Where do students see my announcement?

Dashboard announcements appear at the top of each student's dashboard until they close them with the X. Emails go to the address on each student's account. Only students currently in the class receive it, and you can send up to 15 announcements a day.
